- Madeline Reeves, Founder and CEO of Fearless Foundry and We Talk Money.

“I am so floored every year by the caliber of submissions received and the quality of conversations that unfold around the launch of each year's list,” she says. “Watching how many women are making incredible efforts to uplift each other and give back through their work is a powerful testament that gives me great hope about the future of equity in the accounting industry.”

Leaders with remarkable stories and experiences to share

Now in its sixth year, the Women in Accounting Awards have gained incredible momentum over the years, becoming a highly anticipated event on the accounting industry calendar.

The annual event has attracted over 1,500 nominations from around the world and recognized 250 women from countries such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, United States, and the United Kingdom.

“If the stories of the Top 50 Women in Accounting from previous years left me speechless, I can only imagine what will happen when I dive into the stories of applicants from all over the world,” says Charlene Rhinehart, Founder of Wealthy Women Daily and one of this year’s judges.

“I think it's amazing that Ignition is holding space for recognition – an idea that was unheard of a century ago. The stories and experiences of women in accounting matter,” she says.

Sparking lasting confidence and fostering a sense of community

At the heart of the Women in Accounting initiative lies a powerful vision for a more diverse and inclusive industry in which women stand tall at all levels of leadership. The goal is to create and nurture a global community of female accountants, empowering them to contribute their unique voices, experiences, and perspectives.

In 2023, the focus of the awards is on sparking lasting confidence in women leaders and fostering a sense of community. To drive meaningful and transformative change around this theme the judging panel of industry experts and Top 50 alumni will share the stories of incredible women accountants and bookkeepers, and hold space for important discussions about gender, leadership, and confidence.

“A lack of confidence can inhibit some women in the industry from reaching their full potential”, says Guy Pearson, one of the twelve judges for the 2023 awards. “We hope that by recognizing their achievements, we can ignite real change in confidence and help more women back their own abilities and skills and seek out stretch opportunities,” he says.
